It ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!

Tyson Gill, PE, is the Principal Engineer and co-owner of Concept Design, LLC. Tyson joined Concept Design in March of 2024 after 16 years of working in the structural engineering discipline with a focus on residential projects.
Tyson began his engineering career after graduating from Washington State University in 2008 with a B.S. in civil engineering with an emphasis on structural engineering. In 2022, he started his own professional engineering firm when he returned to his hometown of Bellingham after almost 15 years of working for other firms in the Puget Sound area.
The decision to return home and start his own engineering operations was inspired by his family’s over 100-year-old connection to the community and building
industry of Bellingham. His great-great grandpa Anton came to what was then called the town of Sehome in the 1890s; one of the four towns along with
Bellingham, Whatcom, and Fairhaven that later became what we know today as the city of Bellingham. Great-great-grandpa Anton built numerous homes on
Sehome Hill and all over the surrounding areas. Many of them still standing and in spectacular condition today, with more than a few on the city’s Historical
Building Registry (you can check out one of the many at 1900 Eldridge Ave. – the Carter Home).
Tyson’s family legacy of building in the Bellingham area continued down through great grandpas, grandpas, his father, his uncle, and his cousins, who all started their own construction companies and built numerous homes throughout the Bellingham and Whatcom County areas. It’s this history and connection to family and building that brought Tyson back home and eventually led him to become a part of Concept Design LLC, where he plans to continue being a part of the development of this incredible community in Bellingham and add his own chapter to his family’s story.
